Part of the confusion concerning immigration in this country, stems from a lack of clarity about what drives illegal immigration. Mainstream media's aversion to the question, "WHY?" has further shaded and confused those of us who are not quick to, "take a side or rush to judgment," by separating the facts from the truth. It would be misleading, irresponsible, and ultimately impossible to reconcile these entities in their entirety. So instead SuBRepublic did what it does best. Shed light on an element of truth less exposed. In this case it’s the "WHY?". Who do you call when the police begin disturbing the peace? That’s what the frustrated audience fought to answer for themselves, as several extended squad members of the LAPD surrounded the concert venue. Everyone deals with their aggravation and disappointment in different ways; leaving some people with a reinforced distrust and lack of respect for authority.

Dead Prez touches down in LA and connects with headz from their loyal fan base at Fatbeats. Later that night with Fidel at Divine Forces Radio, DP rocks the airwaves with freestyle flows and conscious perspectives on the state of current affairs.

Dead Prez’s Stickman and M-1, along with Umi from the affiliate group P.O.W, blessed the left coast with conscious thought and syck political lyrics. They represented at the radio show before they prepared to rip the mic at a Katrina benefit concert in downtown LA that weekend. Along with thousands of hip hop headz and political freedom activists, Ras Kass and KRS-1 used lyric and rhythm to rock the body and mental. All was set to go well until the LAPD arrive in typical anti-climactic fashion. The confusion and predisposed frustration amongst angry fans and activists, vs. “The Establishment” ensues. The experience seems to validate DP’s ideology that we’re living in a police state. Watch as the chaos unfolds.
