The Polar Code is the name given to the International Maritime Organisation’s international regime setting out regulations for shipping in both of the world’s Polar regions.
For International Maritime Organisation standards to become binding agreements, they must be ratified by enough member countries that 50% of the world’s gross tonnage is represented.
