Wheel2Wheel has chosen PanEco as its charity in Indonesia. PanEco aims to educate local inhabitants how to use natural resources sustainably. Wheel2Wheel is concerned that the Tripa Coastal Peat swamp forests are being burnt down for palm oil plantations. PanEco and YEL developed a pilot study to promote palm oil plantation on degraded land on the west coast of Aceh province. This pilot study aims to encourage small holders and oil palm estates to develop new oil palm plantations on mineral soil as an alternative to clearing Rain Forest.
