2008 Essence Music Festival - Music Therapy ProgramAt the 2008 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, Chevrolet once again showcased its support of the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom Schools® through the sponsorship of a music therapy program.
The emotional connection with CDF last year thrust an ongoing relationship between Chevrolet and the CDF Freedom Schools that goes beyond financial backing. This year the CDF Freedom Schools include 136 sites spanning 62 cities in 25 states, and serves more than 9,200 children across the U.S. The Freedom Schools will help more than 2,500 students in the Gulf-area alone, contributing to the ongoing theme of "Revolution to Rebuild." These children devastated by Hurricane Katrina, are involved in the music therapy program which focuses on helping young adults and children reduce stress, and promotes conflict resolution and nonviolence.
Bader TV was on hand at the Louisiana Superdome for a music therapy session.
