In the early morning hours of April 26th, 2006 an Iraqi man was shot dead on the side of the road next to an IED hole in the small Sunni Village of Hamdania, Iraq by Seven Marines and One Navy Corpsman, members of the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines Regiment. Differing accounts as to the exact details of the man’s killing fueled a full-blown NCIS murder investigation. Soon, the Seven Marines and One Navy Corpsman faced life in Prison for their roles in the Iraqi Man’s Death. Article 32 is a documentary film that uncovers the truth of what happened that night in Iraq and the subsequent NCIS murder investigation. Shot in Hamdania, Iraq and the United States, Article 32 explores the morally brutalizing environment of the Iraq war and shines a light on the gray area between the established Rules of Engagement and the basic rule of “Do what you have to do to come home alive.”

Musician and photographer Bryan Adams is bringing his Hear the World photography exhibition to Londons Saatchi Gallery from 22nd-26th July 2009. The free exhibition will display a selection of exclusive photographs taken for the Hear the World initiative. Personalities photographed include Annie Lennox, Moby, Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Mick Jagger, Amy Winehouse and Plácido Domingo among numerous other superstars. Hear the World is a global initiative, launched in 2006 by leading hearing system manufacturer Phonak, which raises awareness about the importance of healthy hearing and the impact of hearing loss. All of the supporters of the initiative have been photographed with a hand cupped behind their ear to convey conscious hearing.

Starring in the production are students from the Hartt school, Conard High School, Uconn, and Housatonic Community College - just to name a few. The production will take place rain or shine on the lawn or in the school’s Carol Autorino Center. Audiences are welcome to bring picnics and blankets and enjoy the show. I Got Next is a free documentary on the fighting video game scene created by Ian Cofino (with much support from my friends and family). It originally started as my senior project at Purchase College, School of Art and Design, and has grown to something much bigger thanks to the dedicated and passionate players in the community. Our Bromley Branch takes home a green gong at the Bromley Environmental Awards: Last Friday (26th June) our Bromley branch won a prestigious accolade in the ‘Business’ Environment category for building energy efficient design, renewable energy installations, energy management and landscape biodiversity measures at the Borough of Bromley’s Environment Awards, 2009. Bromley’s Mayor, Councillor Douglas Auld hosted an evening celebrating sustainability in the Council Chamber and it’s lush gardens which houses a moat, a marvellous duck house and fountain accented by a live orchestra and on a beautiful summers evening. Environmental champion, Alistair McGowan presented our very own Scott Mackenzie and Aaron Bekir with the Business Environment trophy and commented “Can you build one of your stores near my house please?”.
