In our 17th episode we take a look at Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros during their Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance last week, but find ourselves drawn back to their network television debut from September 4th, 2009. Is it just us, or has the Johnny and June chemistry between singers Alex Ebert and Jade Castrinos cooled somewhat since their Letterman performance over a year ago?
Conan O'Brien joins Jack White on stage for a rip snorting version of Eddie Cochran's "Twenty Flight Rock" on the inaugural episode of Conan on November 8th, 2010.
Two trade-friendly Queen DVDs came our way this past week, both recorded at London's majestic Hammersmith Odeon in the 1970s. The first is derived from a recent BBC rebroadcast of an Old Grey Whistle Test show in 1975, while the second is a reconstruction of Queen's epic boxing day concert from 1979, which was rolled into the Rock for Kampuchea cause.
As if Queen fans didn't have enough to be excited about already, the news that Sacha Baron Cohen will be playing ...
Brian J Ford shows videos that reconstruct the images created by the first microscopes, and compares these with earlier unsuccessful attempt by the BBC, etc.
Buffalo Springfield reunite for Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit and we've got clips from the best audience shot video of this historic show ("Burned" and "Mr. Soul") as well as some of their appearance on Hollywood Palace in 1967. Paul Weller's "Wake Up The Nation" is one of the former Jam frontman's best, and he'll be on the Jimmy Kimmel Show on November 4th. The Rush documentary "Behind the Lighted Stage" contains many gems, a few of which we preview here. "The Union" is the new record by Elton John and Leon Russell, and we sample their performance from New York's Beacon Theatre earlier this month, and look at a couple of classic moments from the year 1970 - Elton's "Take Me To The Pilot" from the BBC's In Concert series, and Leon's "Delta Lady" recorded for the Homewood Sessions at the Vine Street Theatre in Los Angeles by KCET TV. Finally we pay tribute to Gregory Isaacs, who passed away this week, with a clip from his smash hit "Night Nurse" recorded at the Brixton Academy in London in 1984.

This week on the Peaks we check out what Mavis Staples has cooked up with Jeff Tweedy on the lovely "You Are Not Alone"; check in with Tennessee rockers the Kings Of Leon, whose fifth album "Come Around Sundown" was released last week, and who appeared on Saturday Light Live over the weekend; look at a four-part DVD series entitled "Singer Songwriters at the BBC" and view selections from Terry Jacks, Gordon Lightfoot and Billy Joel; remember why we enjoy the southern blues-filled boogie rock of the Black Crowes and will be sad when the Robinson brothers wrap things up at the end of the year; and celebrate Billy Preston, whose "Nothing From Nothing" hit the #1 chart spot in 1972 and also became the first musical number to be performed on Saturday Night Live on October 11th, 1975.

The corporation announced last week its intention to sell many of its publications, including Top Gear, Gardeners' World and Good Food, and that it wanted to do it in one acquisition deal.

BBC foreign correspondent Fergal Keane travels through Japan, beginning his journey on the businessman's bullet train in Tokyo, where he receives earthquake training and lessons in Japanese etiquette.
During his journey through the countryside, he discovers Japan's spiritual life in gardens of silent contemplation, practises poetry at a haiku workshop, climbs a volcano, and visits a shrine to kamikaze pilots.
Charles Rangeley Wilson, author, journalist and BBC 2's Accidental Angler, travels to Japan to explore the Japanese people's passionate relationship to fish.
Of all the island nations on Earth, there is, perhaps, none quite so obsessed by fish as Japan. Whether for food or entertainment, fish are at the very core of Japanese identity. From their reverential love of jewel-like koi to the seemingly barbaric world of scientific whaling via the balletic submarine ballet of the drive hunt, there are few corners of Japanese culture that have not been shaped by reference to fish.
Trying to comprehend this 'alien' culture, Charles embarks on a six-week odyssey through Japan, determined to use his love of fish and fishing as the common point of interest between himself and those he meets along the way. Since he loves fish possibly even more than the Japanese, they must have plenty in common...

Bobby Rays first ever performance in the UK... and I was there ;D Aceeeeeeeee
B.o.B performed for over an hour at Kings College London student union and it was too good, disregarding all the tall people! ... Ah if only I was closer to the front, then maybe I could of caught his hat, drumstick and coin? Im not sure but he threw a lot of stuff into the crowd! He emptied out his bottle of water on us!! ^_^
Crowd was totally pumped throughout!! Nothin on you was suppose to be his last song (obviously) but we brought him back out on stage again to do the cover (which he did earlier on BBC Radio1 Live Lounge - which we obviously heard) as the crowd was requesting it from the very start of the show... so that was nice of him! :)
At the end Giggs was in the hallway... and I actually accidently stole his pen from his hand!! ;]
