Hummer Gets an OverhaulYoung Designers Create the Next Generation of Vehicles
Each year automakers spend millions designing and building concept cars to find out exactly what the public wants. Many often miss the mark. But one of the biggest hits of this year's North American International Auto Show was a conceptual Hummer, showcased for its bold style and unusual features, not to mention its unusual design team.
Three young designers who went to school together, started at General Motors together and began sketching together were given one of the most prestigious assignments in the business. Right out of school the threesome was given the challenge of designing the next generation of the Hummer brand.
Two years later the design was brought to life and selected to be one of the featured show cars at the NAIAS. And with removable sunroof panels, fenders and doors, helicopter inspired seats with their own suspension and a more youthful look, this concept may soon be a reality.
