Coltons Story, Heaven Is for Real is the true story of a four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who experienced heaven during emergency surgery. He talks about looking down to see the doctor operating and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family didnt know what to believe but soon the evidence was very clear.

Rather than a simple conversation with a psychologist (like in the book), I decided to put my own spin on this monologue and show a character fighting and gradually losing control of his body to his schizophrenic counterpart. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: I wanted to show a character who has been troubled by his schizophrenia and is confronting it. He talks to it but the further the conversation goes, the less control he has over his body and the schizo side is taking over him until it has complete control in the end. The reason why I have shown less energy in this performance is that I didn't want to make it seem to the audience as my character is possessed or alienated. I wanted to show that schizophrenia is a mental illness so i am still humane. This is upon the basis of the performance style of 'Realism' as opposed to other theatrical styles such as 'Expressionism' or 'Naturalism'. IMPROVEMENT: I have already made detailed notes on the flaws of this performance such the accent changed when pronunciating one word, the reactions are slow and not energetic which does not have a stronger effect on the audience as it potentially could have.
