Trailer: This film, a compilation of footage from the early to mid-20th century, shows the rise and fall of labor during times of war and peace. In times of war, America’s job market flourished with the increased demand of supplies. After WWI, the economic boom ended, and many people found themselves struggling to get by. It was during this time that the government began to create acts to protect the worker. Over time, labor laws entitled workers to minimum wages, maximum hours per shift, and union representation. WWII created another demand for workers, but something had changed. Now more technologically advanced, America sought higher skilled laborers, displacing the job market once again. Highlighting the challenge to change, this film shows the struggles to keep Americans employed and what has been done to protect their jobs. Based in Southern California, Boom Shaka is keeping roots reggae music alive and well. Founded way back in 1986 by singer/songwriter Trevy Felix, Boom Shaka has developed a serious following over the years. They have toured the world and have released a series of albums since their inception. Trevy Felix is the lead singer and plays guitar. He is accompanied by his brother Bass-I on bass, Lester Fari on lead guitar, Shaka Man on drums and Little George on keyboards. Boom Shaka's music is incredible. They have great lyrics, heavy bass lines, sweet guitar licks and beautiful harmonies. If you thought that all the best reggae music was recorded in the 1970's, then you haven't heard this group. Boom Shaka will blow your mind.

There are very few Americans who have not been touched by the far reaching influence of the Pocahontas Fuel Company. The coal extracted by Pocahontas Fuel served nearly 1/2 of the country. The numerous mines once employed nearly 100,000 people and it was all headquartered here in this small town in the mountains. Many awesome historic buildings and sites in this town face demolition by neglect unless something changes. The centerpiece of this wonderful 1800s Victorian town, The Company Store, fell to the ground just one week before we made this video and the town has until October 31 2007 to either raise the money to rebuild it or it will be scraped from the Earth forever.
