The Story of Dallas WiensDallas Wiens, visited Lake Country Christian School on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 and spoke at the High School and Middle School Chapels. Dallas suffered severe burns in a work accident in November of 2008. His face was most seriously burned. Upon entering the hospital, the doctors recommended that the family allow Dallas to die. The family believed that God had plans of life for Dallas. He has a daughter Scarlette (age 4) to rear. Dallas spent six months at Dallas Parkland Hospital. At the time of his injury, Mrs. Sue Peterson, Dallas’ grandmother was the middle school science teacher at Lake Country. The Lake Country families and students rallied around the Peterson family, prayed and provided support as Dallas’ life hung in the balance. Dallas came to share his story with the students who had prayed for him during his time of distress. Recently, Dallas was approved to receive a face transplant. Dallas wanted the students to see him prior to the surgery and he will return later to show them his new face. Dallas told the students how God has given him strength, purpose and hope and encouraged them to make a commitment to God in the middle of their own circumstances.
