If you're convicted, or charged and arraigned, for any crime, it's going to go on your record. There are different gradations in terms of shoplifting and theft, depending upon the value of the items. However, these are crimes, still. So if a criminal complaint does issue, and if there is a guilty, that guilty will be on your record, just like the initial arraignment, the initial case, as well as what happened to that case, will be on your record.
