Today you're going to learn exactly how to perform squats properly. We'll take a look at correct squat form, then break down the movement and give you some great tips and tricks that are guaranteed to perfect your form and maximize your results. Squats are an essential compound exercise for strengthening not only your quads, glutes and lower back but also engaging your core. To perform the squat properly: stand with feet shoulder width apart and toes facing forwards. Put your arms out for balance and push back from the hips. Place weight in the heels and sit back until your thighs are parallel to the floor. Hold this position for 3 seconds before pushing up through the heels and returning to standing position. Ensure you keep your back straight and head up throughout the movement. When performing the squat be aware of 3 key focus points: 1. Keeping the back straight 2. Thighs parallel to the floor 3. Knees in line with the toes You will also learn a great tip guaranteed to prevent problems such as, rounding of the back and leaning forward.
