Dementia 13, Francis Ford Coppola, 1963A slow paced psycho-thriller, produced by low-budget horror icon, the infamous Roger Corman, not Coppola's debut in filmmaking but the first he acknowledged, or at least the first he didn't write off. Although it has some nice shots and cool moments it's not a great movie. On the contrary. Coppola shows little of the style, craft and technique that established his authorship reputation. To his credit, the somewhat creepy and bleak back drop for the film he created. But I don't want to scare you off. I leave that to the film itself. After all, Dementia 13 has many of the enjoyable horror film ingredients.
