Great American Dine Out Kicks OffMore than one-third of individuals served by food banks are children under the age of 18, and 12.6 million kids in the United States are at risk of hunger.
September 21-28, 2008 marks the first-ever Share Our Strength Great American Dine Out week. The Great American Dine Out brings together restaurants around the country to donate a portion of their sales during the week, with the proceeds helping to end childhood hunger in America. Monies raised from The Great American Dine Out will support kids' access to nutritious foods where they live, learn and play. Food Network star and host of "Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives," Guy Fieri, serves as the national spokesperson for the event.
