Paula Deen Gives Troops a Down-Home SaluteCelebrity Cook Performs Live Show and Shares Recipes Just in Time for the Holidays
For many of us, the holidays are all about family and good food, like mom's homemade pumpkin pie and cranberry salad. Just in time for Thanksgiving, celebrity cook Paula Deen brought some of her "down-home" personality and traditional Southern cooking to the troops at Ft. Bragg.
In a thank-you salute, Deen along with The All-American Chorus, took to the stage and entertained over 600 troops. Paula's husband, Michael, joined her on stage to help introduce a few distinguished guests and announce the Spouse of the Year award. The pair also shared family stories with the crowd.
In addition to performing a live show, Deen visited with injured troops and new mothers at the medical center. There she signed cookbooks and took photos with the patients while sharing favorite recipes, stories and holiday ideas.
