Kashmiri Youth Participate In Recruitment Drive in KathuaKathua (J-K) Feb 02: Scores of young students from Jammu and Kashmir took part in "UDAAN", a special recruitment drive held in Kathua district. UDAAN is government of India's initiative, being implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Its aim is to provide skills and job opportunities to the youths of Kashmir as part of the initiative to address economic issues of the region. The youth welcomed the move which provided a platform to them to explore new avenues. As of October 2015, some 75,200 candidates registered with UDAAN from all districts of Jammu and Kashmir and 6, 197 candidates were offered jobs. Fourteen big corporate houses took part in the drive to recruit young candidates. Selected students will undergo a skill training programme for six months before they will be absorbed by the respective companies. Such initiatives will go a long way in helping the educated unemployed youth of the region to get better job opportunities.
