This is my entry into the World Nomads documentary scholarship. This is my interpretation of the brief to create a 3 minute doc about a journey into an unknown culture. I chose the 2 months I spent as a volunteer ski instructor in Gulmarg, India.

WARNING VERY! GRAPHIC This video seems to have been uploaded by a by-stander that was present at the time the young lady was shot, by a Basij member. The Basij are a Pro-Government Volunteer Militia that uses very violent methods to enforce the Iranian governments totalitarian policies. At 19:05 June 20thPlace: Karekar Ave., at the corner crossing Khosravi St. and Salehi st.A young woman who was standing aside with her father watching the protests was shot by a basij More.. member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house. He had clear shot at the girl and could not miss her. However, he aimed straight her heart. I am a doctor, so I rushed to try to save her. But the impact of the gunshot was so fierce that the bullet had blasted inside the victim's chest, and she died in less than 2 minutes.The protests were going on about 1 kilometers away in the main street and some of the protesting crowd were running from tear gass used among them, towards Salehi St.The film is shot by my friend who was standing beside me.Please let the world know

For Sammy Wilson, Jr. volunteering has become a way of life. Sammy began helping The Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity through his special education school, The Gengras Center. Soon, he became a steady volunteer on his own. Sammy was recognized with four awards last week for his dedication to volunteer work. He says he wants to continue working with his hands after graduation.

For Memorial Day 2009 I traveled to Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. I was with Ian Stares who traveled to the U.S. from Australia to play TAPS during the Memorial Day ceremony. He is a member of Bugles Across America- a volunteer group

Lucy heads out with a volunteer from Homestart Uganda an organisation that provides emotional and practical support to vulnerable mothers. She visits a young mother Ruth who without the support of Homestart may well have abandoned her baby as she had no one to turn to. Ruth is one of the many mothers that Esther the Homestart volunteer supports in the local communities. Lucy comments on how the support has made such a difference in keeping a mother and baby together as they should be. Childs I will hopefully be working in partnership with Homestart so as well as helping abandoned babies they will also be able to prevent babies being abandoned in the first place.

Miracle on 13th Street appeared in the January 2007 show and was my first time operating a camera solo. The footage is from a volunteer appreciation holiday concert the month before. It was a challenging performance to film, since the lighting and sound was not designed for filming, but the performances more than made up for it, reminding me of one of the cardinal rules of video editing, "Audiences will tolerate bad video, but not bad audio." The singing is wonderful, which makes you overlook the visual imperfections and enjoy the holiday music.

The Ultimate Penalty was a trailer for a planned feature length documentary. Filming my first project, "The Meaning of Pride", with a fellow volunteer, we didn't expect to get such strong and compelling interviews, so the unused footage was to be incorporated into a feature length documentary using a painting of the execution in Iran of two gay teenagers as it's central theme.

Garden Party 23 was my first solo project after completing my training as a volunteer video producer. Garden Party is an annual fundraiser to benefit the NYC LGBT Center. With the music and comedy, it's always a fun segment to edit. I've edited Garden Party for the past 3 years in a row; this was my first. I noticed that our Mainstage and Roving cameras were filming Christine Ebersole at the same time, which I used for a split screen edit showing the same point in time from two different perspectives.

Meaning of Pride was the first project that I completed with a fellow volunteer after completing my training as a volunteer video producer. I worked on concept, camera, and editing, which made extensive use of scale, transparency, and vector coordinates. The segment appeared in the June 2006 show and was designed to be five one-minute "spacers" highlighting what Pride meant to people of various demographics. We didn't expect to get such strong and compelling interviews, so the unused footage was incorporated into another segment entitled, "The Ultimate Penalty" which appeared in October 2006 and which used a painting of the execution in Iran of two gay teenagers as it's central theme.

Anne Good encourages animal rescue groups to offer more modern apparel and to further utilize social media. She also calls on designers and artists, as well as social media users to volunteer their time helping shelters and rescue groups.

Housemate JD Ordonez interned at the Center doing advocacy work that focused on the Center’s Promote the Vote initiative that registered thousands of marginalized individuals in communities throughout New York City. The work culminated in an election night party that drew a huge crowd, including JD's housemates. Spoiler - Obama wins. JD and his housemates are now members of the Center.
