Der große Maifeiertag steht bevor, an dem ganz Plätscherbach um den Maibaum tanzt. Leider ist der alte Maibaum im Winter in Jans Scheune verrottet. Schnell hat Jan mit Emma, Max und Leo einen neuen abgestorbenen Baum gefunden, der als Maibaum dienen kann. Nichts ahnend zersägt der Unglücksrabe Herr Junker diesen Baum in vier Teile, weil er gerade Beine für seinen Verkaufsstand braucht. Aber wieder einmal weiß Jan Rat, und so kann die Feier mit Hilfe des kleinen roten Traktors ausgelassen und in bester Stimmung stattfinden.
