Our Town(1940) Change comes slowly to a small New Hampshire town in the early 20th century. People grow up, get married, live, and die. Milk and the newspaper are delivered every morning, and no one locks their front doors. This film is an adaptation of the play of the same name by Thornton Wilder. It stars William Holden, Martha Scott, Fay Bainter, Beulah Bondi, Thomas Mitchell, Guy Kibbee, and Frank Craven. It was adapted by Harry Chandlee, Frank Craven and Thornton Wilder and directed by Sam Wood. The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Martha Scott, who reprised her stage role as Emily Webb, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and Aaron Copland was nominated for Best Score.
