Ferdowsi Teach-In Introduction by Prof. Michael HillmannFerdowsi1000.com is devoted to the Persian language, Persian literature, and Iranian culture from the days of the Persian epic poet Ferdowsi onward. The siteâÂÂs name alludes to the fact that a thousand years have passed since Ferdowsi completed his famous verse redaction of Persian Iranian legends, myths, tales, and history called Shâhnâmeh [(The) Book of Kings]. Ferdowsi1000.com got its impetus from a Spring 2009 Persian literature seminar at The University of Texas at Austin called âÂÂFerdowsiâÂÂs Shâhnâmeh and the Epic Traditionâ and a conference held in conjunction with the seminar called âÂÂFerdowsi Teach-In at Texas.â In the Spring of 2010, a parallel Persian literature seminar on âÂÂRumi and the Sufi Traditionâ and a Rumi conference will take place.
