The Los Angeles Catholic Worker community is part of the lay Catholic Worker movement founded nearly eighty years ago by Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin to "feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, care for the sick, clothe the naked, visit the prisoner" and offer a gospel-based critique of the dominant culture within the Catholic tradition, but outside the institutionalized structures of the church. Founded in 1970, the Los Angeles Catholic Worker is a lay Catholic community of women and men that operates a free soup kitchen, hospitality house for the homeless, hospice care for the dying, a bi-monthly newspaper, and regularly offers prophetic witness in opposition to war-making and systemic injustice. Native American Genocide-Chukchansi Disenrollment- Tribal Wars 2012 The Picayune Rancheria recently stopped providing many benefits to the tribe's existing "petitioners" -- tribal members of Chukchansi descent that are not direct descendents of a Chukchansi given allotment land by the U.S. government in 1887. About 60 petitioners are thought to remain, one member said. Our group; Downtown LA Goes Pink For The Cure's core group is composed of mostly men, who through our artistic endeavors became aware of the many plights women face daily without most men being clearly aware of their challenges. Many of these challenges we may not be equipped to make much of an improvement such as childhood sexual abuse, date-**** and the such, however we feel we may be able to make a difference in cancer awareness if we can help through encouraging education, screenings and treatment programs in the fight to end breast cancer forever.

Moss and show clips from a documentary she made about Helen Lundeberg (1908--1999) Lundeberg was born in Chicago growing up in Los Angeles, she married California artist Lorser Feitelson, her former teacher. In 1933 they co-founded an art movement called New Subjective Classicism better known as Post Surrealism. Lundeberg considered herself a less strict hard-edger as her work was not strictly abstract but contained architectural elements and often represents architectural space. She died in Los Angeles.

In 1961 George Jackson was convicted of armed robbery, for robbing a gas station at gunpoint and at age 18 was sentenced to serve one year to life in prison.[nb 1] During his first years at San Quentin State Prison, Jackson became involved in gang activity as well as assaults on guards and fellow inmates, extending his original sentence with each infraction. He was described by prison officials as egocentric and anti-social.[4] in 1966, Jackson met and befriended W.L. Nolen who introduced him to Marxist and Maoist ideology. The two founded the Black Guerrilla Family in 1966 based on Marxist and Maoist political thought.[5] As Jackson's disciplinary infractions grew he spent more and more time in solitary confinement where he studied political economy and radical theory. He also wrote many letters to friends and supporters which would later be edited and compiled into the books Soledad Brother and Blood in My Eye, which became bestsellers and brought him a great deal of attention from the left wing ...
