Harper rises to fame, specialising in the little-known dance field of ‘Contemporary Grass Naturalism’, only to have her career fall apart, following drought and severe water restrictions limiting her training and performance spaces. With her career in tatters, Gloria was referred by a friend to Arts Hub. Once there, she was able to search the Arts Hub jobs section, reviews, bulletins and more – eventually finding a position as a dance collaborator with a major production company in Sydney. Learning to move on from her solo grass career and collaborating with the network of artists she located through Arts Hub, propelled Gloria into occupying a key role in a new experimental performance group, who will now be performing their work on the centre stage at the inaugural Water Conservation Summit in 2009. Monba outlasted a full field of 12 horses at Keenland Park on Saturday to win the Blue Grass Stakes and with it a trip to the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May. Monba, ridden by Edgar Prado was good out of the gate and 4th after the first turn. Monba made up ground in the backstretch and was second heading into the stretch and passed second place finisher Cowboy Cal in the final strides in an exciting Blue Grass Stakes. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Monba was the 4th choice on the betting board and was sent off at 8-1. Trainer Todd Pletcher sent 5 horses to the Kentucky Derby last year but on his final try was able to finally qualify a horse this year. Blue Grass favorite Pyro ran last and was a major disappointment never really kicking into gear. Pyro’s handlers are blaming the track surface but ...

While searching for clothes for the needy and for my rugs, I've often come across this fellow, and he gave me permission to to record this conversation with him. Its folks like him who are really doing something about the problem of our overflowing landfills and wanton waste of energy and natural resources. He even takes old broken appliances and removes the recyclable metal from them. He daily does good for the world, and is always good for a fun story too!

So little if no expense was spared on this place, including the (fake) grass field, two-lane track, exercise equipment and landscaping. This was the only day that I've seen students allowed on the field, though. Apparently, there are ruts under the turf surface and it needs to be redone.
