Mr. Skinner received a Certificate of Commendation in 1975 for 6 decades of work in preserving and interpreting historical heritage of Androscoggin County, Maine. This award was given by the American Association for State and Local History. AASLH began in 1904, under the wing of the American Historical Association. Then called the Conference of State and Local Historical Societies, AASLH broke out on its own in December of 1940 to become the American Association for State and Local History. Now, 100 years after the first organization was created in support of the burgeoning field of state and local history, AASLH is still the only comprehensive national organization dedicated to the field at large. Joanne LaPointe, Curator of the Franco-American Heritage Center of Lewiston Auburn, Maine. Ms LaPointe was the first person to have her talk taped as an audio file. The AHS saw the value of their program talks and wanted to record them so future generation might be able to also be educated from these talks. It was also planned to do some audio histories with the older residents it being 1776-1976 for the USA, We will now have to ask the question where are the extra tapes, if any?

On 12 July 2008, the 13th Annual 5K Moxie Road Race was held. Betty Young of the Maine Track was there to record most of the runners & walkers as the finished the race.
