I saw a sneak peak of the type of application Nokia is now releasing. Point and Find uses augmented reality, allowing you to point your camera phone at a movie poster and immediately pull up information about it on the web. There will be a lot of potential for these kinds of apps in the future. Monoprice finally released their Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter, and it's already sold out. Apple's announcement was Tuesday. iPhone 3.0 won't come out until this summer, but it'll bring some much desired features, including cut and paste! Amazon launched their Kindle iPhone App. It's free, and will keep your place using Whispersync. Set down your Kindle, leave the house, and continue reading on your iPhone or iPod Touch. I tried it and I love it. WePC.com is ASUS/Intel project where you can share your ideas for a dream computer with engineers who can bring the best of those ideas to life. Today is a big product refresh from Apple. They've updated iMacs, the Mac Mini and the Mac Pro. Very little has changed on the outside of any of the machines. It's all about faster, better more effecient performance. The Mac Pro internal system architecture has been re-designed to make upgrades even easier. Out of everything that's changed, I'm most excited about the new Airport Extreme. It now simultaneously and separately supports 2.4GHz data Wi-Fi AND 5GHz Wi-Fi. That means your need for speed on your computer isn't throttled by all the 2.4GHz wireless devices you have in your house. Most of you love bloopers on GeekBrief.TV, but I've been doing this for a long time, and I don't make many anymore. One morning, we woke up to shoot at 6:00 AM, and we found a guaranteed way of getting bloopers out of me!

The latest Apple TV update (2.3.1) breaks Boxee again. Sales of the Apple TV surged in the last quarter of 2008, and my guess is that Boxee was a factor. Boxee is a killer app for Apple TV and I would love to see Apple open up the platform. If you already have Boxee installed, you can update Apple TV and just use the patchstick to re-install. It's inconvienient, but not the end of the world. My "Leave Boxee Alone" segment is a parody of Chris Crocker's "Leave Britney Alone" YouTube video. There is a reason Kindle 1 is a success. It did what it was supposed to do without frustrating users. Kindle software and services are so good that the industrial design flaws in version 1 were easy to overlook ... at least for early adopters. Kindle 2 is ready for everyone. It combines great software, great service and a very nice little piece of hardware. Kindle 2 feels better to hold. It's softer and there are plenty of possible ways to hold it without accidentally turning pages. With Kindle 1, when you wanted to awaken it from sleep, you had to press two buttons with two fingers or two thumbs. That's been replaced by a simple slide of the power switch. Slide it again and Kindle will go back to rest. Kindle 1 was extremely readable and I had no complaints about the contrast, but Kindle 2 is just better. Letters and images are crisper and they pop a little more. It took me about 20 seconds to adjust to the 5-way joy stick. The shiny, silver bar on Kindle 1 was extremely cool, but like I said ...

Hulu is being taken off Boxee's available content. No one is happy about the decision, but Jason Kilar's approach to the situation is commendable. LG Electronics announced the LG-X120 Netbook at Mobile World Congress. You'll be able to access frequently used apps within five seconds of turning your computer on. The HTC Magic will be the second phone to sport Google's Android OS. It has some good features, but also a couple odd choices on their part. Sony's Cybershot DSC-T900 has intelligence built into auto mode. It's not supposed to take your photo if your eyes are closed and quickly adjusts to conditions. This morning started like a typical morning for me ... with a google search. I searched for Bruce Williams, a broadcaster who does a business advice show and got the results I'd respect along with warnings on every search result. The warning says, "This Site May Harm Your Computer." I went to a different Mac and did a search. Same thing. I used different search words and phrases. Same thing. I did a search from different browsers and from a PC and got the same warning message. Next step twitter. I asked if anyone else is getting the error and it appears to be happening to everyone on every search. I decided to go live on ustream as we tried and figure out what wass happening. Then we heard from Google. They explained that it was human error: What happened? Very simply, human error. So far, smart phones launched in answer to the iPhone have disappointed. The Palm Pre looks like it's combination of hardware and software is elegant enough in functionality to provide consumers with a real choice. John P. is back on the Brief. This guy is fascinating to us because he retired at a young age with enough money to do whatever he wants. He choose to spend time learning to do interesting things like forging knives out of steel, welding and the list goes on and on. He learned to use and bought a plasma torch.
